Super GT 2019 Season – Changes

Hey, everyone.

This is staff member Hirano from the Goodsmile Racing Team.

Last week there was a Super GT 2019 regulation review meeting.

There are a few things that have changed since last year, so I wanted to take this opportunity to tell all of our Personal Sponsors about them.

Starting this year, if you’re watching the race or something and think to yourself, “This info is just too much, I can’t make any sense of it!”  Just send us your question via Twitter with the hashtag #fightgsr and either someone from the official GSR twitter account or one of our gracious veteran Personal Sponsors will reach out to you.

First of all, though the Q1 was divided into 2 groups last year at Sugo as a sort of trial, this year it will be divided over Okayama and Sugo.

Also, the number of cars progressing into Q2 will be raised to 16.  Last year it was 14.

This is the greatest of change.

The official tire testing schedule has also been released.

1.  Okayama International Circuit  March 16-17
2.  Fuji Speedway  March 30-31
3.  Sportsland Sugo  August 10-11

And that’s basically the gist of it.

If there’s anything else you need to know, we’ll be sure to pass it along!
