Who’s this Up-and Coming Mechanic “Shun?”

Good morning everyone!  The test run at Okayama is over.  But before going onto the result, wouldn’t you like to know who this Shun guy is who keeps giving us reports from a mechanic’s perspective?  Please allow me to introduce him!

I think some of you are already aware of this, but he’s the son of Chief Mechanic, Mr. Kawano!  I think he’ll become F1 driver in the future, so I recommend you sign him now while you still can!  lol  He’ll also probably be taking part in our live broadcasts from now on.

Alright, let’s let Shun do it himself in this self-introduction!  Please extend your welcome and well wishes to him!

Name:  Shunsuke Kawano

I was born on Sept. 12, 1995, and am 18 years old.

I actually started working as a mechanic with GSR in 2012 (though in the latter part of the year I was servicing the IS car with RS Fine …).

My main responsibility is managing tires.

From the middle of last year, I also change out tires on the left side of the car in the pit during races.

I may work as a mechanic at the GT, but as my real goal is to become a professional racer, I also race as a driver.

This year, in addition to participating in the national “Super J” Formula series at Suzuka, I’ll also be entering the SRS-F (Suzuka Circuit Racing School Formula).  The SRS-F is an audition-style school, but if I pass I’ll be able to race with Honda as an apprentice driver.

For now I want to graduate at the top of my class at SRS-F and race as an apprentice driver at Honda next year, but my ultimate goal is to make it all the way to the F1!

Of course, I’m also practicing as hard as I can before the big race to trim off even one second on tire changes for GSR.

It’s nice to meet you all, and I hope you’ll be cheering us on!
