We’ve got news from the other Ukyo on the GSR team – Ukyo Sasahara. He raced in last year’s Formula Renault Alps Series, climbing up to 6th at one point but finishing off the season on 13th.
This year he’ll instead be participating in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Series, with 7 races held in 6 different countries, again as part of the Euronova Racing team. In case you’re wondering, NEC in this case isn’t the ubiquitous PC manufacturer, but an abbreviation for Northern European Cup! Let’s rally behind them again this year!
I have a few words from Ukyo below:
The official announcement for this year’s line-up came quite late, and I’m very sorry for any concern it may have caused you, but I’m happy to report that with the support of both sponsors and fans I’ll be able to continue racing in Europe. I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who’s helped me be here today!
In 2013, I raced in the Alps Series which was mainly held on the Italian tracks, but in 2014 I wanted to have the experience of racing on many tracks throughout Europe in order to boost my future performance, and after discussing it with the team I’ll now be racing in the NEC Series.
Though last year I was unfortunately unable to make it the to the victory stand or place in any race, I want to put that behind me to focus on and prepare for the goal ahead, and look forward to the opening race of the series in April. I hope you’ll all be watching and cheering me on!
