Letter from Tomo-chan

Hey, everyone.

Today we received a letter from our Team Coordinator Tomomi Takezawa, who you may recall was in recovery a year ago today after collapsing.  It’s addressed to all of you, so please allow me to share.

============================================

Hello, everyone.  It’s me, Tomomi Takezawa.  It’s been quite some time.

This may seem out of the blue, but I’d like to share with you what’s been going on this past year.

It was a bright and sunny, hot day at the Autopolis on July 14, 2017.  Working as the Team Coordinator for Hub Auto Racing, who were participating in the S-Kyu Endurance Race at the time, I experienced heatstroke-like symptoms and was taken to the infirmary for recovery.

However, the symptoms only continued to worsen and I soon lost consciousness.  I was immediately transported via helicopter to a hospital in Fukuoka.  Testing concluded that it wasn’t heatstroke, but a subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Thanks to the dedicated work of all my physicians, I narrowly escaped death, but when I regained consciousness parts of my body remained in paralysis.

One year has passed since that time, and I spend every day from morning until night in rehabilitation.  I’m still unable to talk or move about at will, but I’ve now recovered enough now to be able to reach out to you all today – albeit with assistance.

I’d like to offer my apologies for not saying anything sooner, and for all of the worry I caused everyone.

Thank you everyone who expressed their concern.  It’s very encouraging.

From here on, I’ll continue to give it my all in rehabilitation, until one day I’m able to return to the circuit.

Lastly, I’d like to encourage everyone to take good care of their health.

This year is especially hot, so if you start feeling ill please take a break and don’t overdo it.  Hopefully that sounds even more convincing coming from me.  (lol)

~ Tomomi Takezawa

So there you have it – a letter from Tomo-chan who’s giving it her all every day in rehabilitation.

Like me, I’m sure you all hope to meet here again at the circuit soon.  So give it your best Tomo-chan!!
